I'm happy to meet with you if you are just beginning your exploration of "normal" or "neuro-atypicality". Many parents start a conversation with me as they notice their child is doing things a bit differently than the child's peers. This particular stage of parenting can cause high amounts of anxiety as you debate whether or not to pursue evaluations for your child. I am happy to be with you every step of the way. Perhaps your child has just received a mental health diagnosis and you aren't sure what to do next. Let's talk! There are several stages parents may go through after learning that your child qualifies for a diagnosis. Some of those might be: denial that a problem exists, anger that someone would label your child, grief at thoughts that your child may never be "normal", and even shock. I am personally familiar with each of those stages. I think its important that parents have integrity to themselves as they process through all the of emotions involved when your child is first diagnosed.
Maybe you are trying to navigate the school system in order to obtain services for your child. The IEP/504 process can be challenging, overwhelming, and frustrating all at the same time. I'm happy to share my knowledge with you and offer encouragement as you walk through this process.
